Solution....hopefully!

For those of you that don't know, Caleb has been quite the fussy pants since he has been born. I have been having a hard time getting him to sleep during the day. His naps only lasting 30 mins-1 hr and sometimes he doesn't fall alseep for most of the day. The only time he is not fussing is when he is sleeping and nursing. Also he has been throwing up just about everything that he takes in. We are going through a terrible cycle of eating, throwing up, then being hungry again. He can't get comfortable and seems to also be in pain. So, I called the doctor (at his two week check up she told me to try Malox for him to help with the spit-up but to call if it didn't get better). Here is the solution...hopefully. I have to cut out ALL dairy from my diet. That means no milk, cheese, yogurt.....nothing! She also prescribed Zantac for Caleb to take three times a day for a month. Let's keep our fingers crossed that this helps our little guy! More to come.

When you're cool the sun shines on you 24 hours a day!

These glasses were given to Payton from her babysitter, Char. When we got home she didn't take them off until she went to bed. Isn't she cute?

Party Time

Last night we went to Shane's cousin Jeff's 30th birthday party. It was really nice to see everyone. We got a kick out of all the kids that were there, especially babies. In the last three weeks there have been 4 babies born on that side of the family including a set of twins. I can't wait until next year when they are all walking/crawling around at these functions. We had a great time! Of course in true Berger fashion we have to keep it interesting. Payton was playing with all the kids, I was talking to Shane's cousin Sam, mother of the twins, and Shane was talking to his Aunt Terry. Payton was running past Shane towards the other kids when she accidentally tripped over Aunt Terry's foot and took a dive to the floor. On the way down she hit her chin on the bottom stair to the stage area. She started to cry and when she opened her mouth she was bleeding. Today, she has a bruise on her chin and two little cuts on the bottom of her tongue where she must have bit it when she hit the stair. I can honestly say there is never a dull day at our house!

AHHHH.....The joys of parenthood

So everyone says that there is a first time for everything. Well, that couldn't be more true tonight. I was giving Payton a bath and we were having a ball. She was splashing, dumping water out of her green cup and really just having a great time. It was time to get out and I was scooping up the toys when all of the sudden there was something slimy and brown in my hand. Yep, that's right P pooped in the tub! We have made it almost two years and it has never happened until tonight. As we speak, the toys are soaking in bleach and the tub has been sprayed down with a disinfectant. What a night!

Has it been a year??

Okay so I started this blog a year ago and obviously never kept up with it. So here I am again, adding detail and really getting into the idea of keeping family members and friends aware of what is happening in the Berger household.
We welcomed a new addition to the family on Valentine's Day. Caleb was born at 7:21pm after about 11 hours of total labor and a little over an hour of pushing. My parents were able to get to our house in time to take care of Payton and Shane's whole family was able to be at the hospital. Everything worked out wonderfully.
It has been an adjustment since bringing our little bundle home. Payton wanted absolutely nothing to do with him the first week. She threw many tantrums and made the transition very difficult for me. She is a Momma's girl and was not having anything to do with me holding another baby. Now that we are approaching our third week she is coming around nicely. She now wants to hold her brother, keeps kissing him repeatedly, and will get in his face and say "hi buddy." She is back to the sweet toddler I knew before I had Caleb.
Caleb is a good baby. He is sleeping most of the day and night. Waking about every three hours to eat. He had his first doctor's appointment on Wednesday. He weighs 8lbs 10oz and is now 21.75in tall. Hard to believe that he is still smaller than Payton was when she was born. Here are some recent pictures of both of them. I am blessed to have such a beautiful family.

This is a picture of Shane and Payton and their first snowman. It was really cute to see her play in the snow for the first time.

This is Caleb sleeping in Aunt Evie's arms. He loves to be held.
